About the book

Play for the infinite game

My philosophy is simple: "Play for the infinite game." The goal isn't to win a trophy someday, but to get better, infinitely. It's about small goals, relentless persistence, and consistent forward movement. The only long-term goal is to enjoy playing, to grow, and to stay healthy for as long as possible.

This story is that journey. And it is a journey I believe is relevant to you, wherever you are on your path.

Read. Reflect. And then go play your game.

About the author

Twenty-six years of failure, fascination, and the hidden machinery of golf

My love affair with golf began twenty-six years ago, not with a thunderous drive, but with a simple question from a business partner: "Are there any golf courses in Cyprus?" That innocent query launched me into a world where I, a former competitive footballer, swimmer, and kickboxer, would experience something entirely new: complete and humiliating failure.

In every other sport I'd tried, raw athleticism could compensate for inexperience. Not golf. My first rounds were a comedy of errors:

  • Disqualified for unknowingly breaking rules (no one explained "out of bounds" to the new foreigner).
  • Mocked for etiquette breaches (yes, I walked through someone's line, repeatedly).
  • Physically unable to do what a sixty-year-old made look effortless.

Yet that frustration became fascination. Golf demanded more than strength; it required patience, humility, and study. So I dove in, volunteering at clubs and federations to learn golf's hidden machinery.

I dared to write it because I discovered that the golf course is the greatest teacher I have ever had. My journey through the world of golf from a wide-eyed volunteer to a club member, an amateur official, and a PGA official, has given me a unique vantage point. I haven't just played the game; I have lived in its ecosystem, from the grassroots to the professional arena. This path has allowed me to see the universal lessons of the course not as abstract ideas, but as living principles that apply to everyone, from the weekend beginner to the tour professional.

"I thought that the book was great. It was inspirational and practical, and explained golf in a way I had never thought about before, as a parallel to life that is more than just the game, it is a way of living and interacting with those around you. It was very insightful and the stories that you told to go along with the lessons helped to reinforce the practical message of the takeaways."
